Faculty of Economics

In April 1975 the Faculty of Economics started with the only one department, the Department of Economics. It was founded in the background of increasing importance of economics in today's fast-changing industrial society and also of heavy demand on economic skills in management of industry and commerce. Since then over 7,000 students have graduated. Today they make careers in public offices, schools and business enterprises.
Nowadays information technology plays a more important or rather essential role than ever in business world, since rapidly progressing IT pervades every corner of business situations. For this reason, the Faculty was expanded to incorporate two departments in 1989 , the Department of Economics and the Department of Business Administration and Information Science. The latter was then transferred in an extended form to Heisei University in 1994, a sister University of Fukuyama University, and with augmented departments.
Now the world has become rapidly internationalized, not only in economic and political areas but also in social, cultural, and environmental affairs, In order to meet the challenging demands from this global situation, the Department of International Economics was founded in 1996.
